Met Department issues red alert for districts in Selangor, KL and Pahang

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a red alert – following dangerous levels of continuous heavy rains – across eight Selangor districts and in Kuala Lumpur until tomorrow.

In its latest statement, MetMalaysia said in Selangor, a heavy downpour is expected to hit Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Hulu Langat.

Other areas under red alert were Jerantut, Bentong and Kuantan in Pahang.

Other peninsula states are marked orange (severe-level continuous rain warning) and yellow (alert-level for continuous rain warning).

States and districts issued with an orange alert were Perak (Hilir Perak and Muallim), Kelantan (Gua Musang), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Temerloh, Maran and Pekan), Selangor (Sepang), Putrajaya and Negri Sembilan (Jelebu).

A yellow alert was issued for Kedah (Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang, Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk and Batang Padang), Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai), Terengganu, Pahang (Bera and Rompin), Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin), Melaka, Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar and Batu Pahat).
