Break-ins at several convenience stores in Taman Seri Muda, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Several convenience stores in Taman Seri Muda, an area badly hit by floods, were broken into earlier today.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said the break-ins in Section 15 was believed to have happened between 1pm and 2pm.

"The break-ins involved Mydin Mart, KK Super Mart, 7-Eleven and Pasaraya Jimat where waters surrounding the premises were still waist high. We believe there are many suspects.

"The situation is under control. We have deployed our personnel to the scene to conduct crime prevention rounds and they are assisted by the General Operations Force to monitor the area and deter recurrence.

"As the water level is still high, it is also difficult for premises owners to conduct checks on their losses. They are urged to make police reports at the station nearest to them," said Baharudin.

Several pictures shared by Baharudin showed the roller shutters of the premises had been prised open and damaged.
