Two ex-convicts held over 24 break-ins in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: Two ex-convicts linked to 24 convenience store break-ins in four districts were arrested on Friday.

State police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the two friends, aged 33 and 34, were detained at a house in Kampung Baung, near Pengkalan Chepa, based on police intelligence.

He said police seized equipment that were believed to have been used during the break-ins.

He said one suspect had four prior records and the other had seven.

"They have been active since April. One of them was just released from prison.

"They broke into convenience stores in Jeli, Tumpat, Pasir Mas and Kota Baru. They grab the cash first, then take other items.

"The 24 break-ins resulted in about RM100,000 in losses. Police believe the cases have been solved following their arrests."

He said investigations revealed that a third person, the leader, was part of the crime spree.

"Police are tracking down the 26-year-old leader, known as

Mohd Amir Izuddin Mohd Izan.

"We believe he is hiding in the state. Those with information on his whereabouts should contact the state police headquarters at 09-745 5555."
