KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been discharged from the National Heart Institute (IJN) today after undergoing a full medical check-up and observation.
IJN in a statement said the 96-year-old who had served as the fourth and seventh prime minister was discharged at about 11.30am.
"Tun Dr Mahathir underwent a series of medical investigations and was ready for discharge as planned.
"Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah express their thanks to everyone for their concern and du'a over the last one week when Tun Dr Mahathir was admitted to IJN," it said.
The Langkawi member of parliament, who turned 96 in July, had undergone two heart bypass operations, in 1989 and 2007. He was last hospitalised in February 2018.
