GUA MUSANG: Some 17 Orang Asli families from three villages near Pos Bihai have been evacuated following tiger threats since last month.
The Orang Asli are from Kampung Bujuk, Kampung Suma and Kampung Remau. They were moved separately last month and last week.
But what worries them is that three tigers, believed to be from the same group, have been following them from one village to another, leaving them in constant trauma.
Pos Bihai Orang Asli Village Security Development committee secretary Pelinejon Anak Assut said seven Orang Asli families from Kampung Remau started to move to Kampung Tendrik following tiger sightings on Dec 10.
"The sighting of the tiger forced the seven Orang Asli families to move to Kampung Tendrik but from there, they again moved to Kampung Suma when they saw tiger footprints near the village.
"At Kampung Suma, they believe three tigers are roaming nearby after they heard the animals in a nearby bush. Together with three families from Kampung Suma, they again moved to Kampung Bujuk.
"They thought that they managed to escape the tigers but its seems that the animals followed them to Kampung Bujuk when a villager saw a tiger last week.
"Along with seven families from Kampung Bujuk, the 10 Orang Asli families rushed back to Kampung Tendrik," he told the New Straits Times.
"A majority of us especially children are worried after seeing the tiger footprints and also after hearing loud roars behind our homes.
"Looks like the tigers want to make friends with us and want to be close to us," joked Pelinejon.
He hoped the relevant authorities would solve the problems soon so the Orang Asli can resume their daily activities.
