BENTONG: The 15-year-old girl who failed to return home from school here on Feb 10 has been found safe and sound in Kajang, Selangor today.
Acting on a tip-off, policemen found P. Pavitra along with a 17-year-old female companion at a bus stop at about 3.30am today.
The Form Three student had allegedly left Bentong in an e-hailing vehicle before spending more than six days at a friend's house in Kajang.
Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said a police team from the district's Criminal Investigation Department went to a residential area in Kajang where they spotted two girls waiting at a bus stop.
"Upon checking their identification documents, one of them was identified as Pavitra while the other person is her 17-year-old friend.
"She had travelled to stay with a friend in Kajang where she had spent several days. The police team brought the girl back to Bentong and sent her to the Bentong Hospital for a health check-up," he said in a statement today.
Zaiham advised students to regularly communicate with their parents if they faced any problems and not to hastily make decisions on their own which could land them or their parents in trouble.
He said parents could also discuss with the School Liaison Officer made up of police officers to identify if their children were experiencing any issues at school.
Police activated the National Urgent Response (Nur) Alert when Pavitra did not board the school van after school finished on Feb 10.
The van driver informed Pavitra's father that she was missing before her father lodged a police report at about 4.40pm the same day.
The girl lives with her 48-year old aunt in Bentong while her parents live in Kuala Lumpur.
