KUALA LUMPUR: Parents have been advised to immediately seek treatment for their children should they start displaying multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) symptoms.
Selayang Hospital Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Nephrologist Dr S. Selva Kumar said the symptoms include fever, red eyes, rashes, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhoea.
He said these symptoms usually occur between two and six weeks after the children were infected with Covid-19.
"The complications of MIS-C involve various internal organs, namely the heart, lungs, brain and kidneys," he said in a short video shared by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin tonight.
In the same video, Khairy called on parents to register their children to get vaccinated to protect them from Covid-19 and serious complications of MIS-C.
This, he said, as Covid-19 hospital admission among children had been on the rise.
"In this Omicron wave, we are worried about those who have not been vaccinated, especially the elderly and children.
"Let's prevent your children from suffering the complications of Covid-19. Get your children vaccinated and do not wait anymore."
