PASIR MAS: Nearly 50 flood victims at the SK Lati relief centre today received health screenings to ensure they were free from any disease.
The check-up was conducted by two teams from the Meranti and Kubang Kual health clinics.
They were led by two doctors – Dr Mohd Syazwan Zaid and Dr Nurul Atiqah Ismail – and assisted by two medical officers and five nurses.
Dr Syazwan said besides providing screening tests, the teams would also treat the flood victims.
"The elderly flood victims and those having any illness will be asked to undergo the tests to make sure they are free from any disease.
"We will also treat those with minor illnesses so that they will not spread any illness to others," he added.
During the check-up, he said, the team would also advise flood victims to take care of their health and adhere to the standard operating procedure.
"We told the victims, especially those with small kids, to focus on hygiene aspects while at the relief centre," he said.
There were about 200 flood victims at the relief centre, having been evacuated there in stages since Saturday after their homes were flooded.
They were from several villages, including Kampung Repek, Kampung Lati and Kampung Lubok Jong.
