Rayer ejected from Parliament sitting

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP's Jelutong MP RSN Rayer has been ejected from today's Parliament sitting for a day, for disturbing the Dewan Rakyat proceedings.

The order was issued by deputy speaker Ramli Mohd Noor after Rayer refused to comply when asked to sit down and to give Pekan MP Datuk Seri Najib Razak the chance to proceed with the debate without interruptions.

Earlier, Rayer and Khalid Abd Samad (PH-Shah Alam) stood up to rebut Najib, which then led to chaos when the two persisted in their calls asking Najib to stop.

"Yang Berhormat, you can discuss (debate) when it is your turn Yang Berhormat (Jelutong) to debate, you can raise it then," Ramli said.

When Rayer appeared to not heed the order, Ramli then asked for him to be escorted out of Parliament.

Rayer then asked Ramli, who was chairing the sitting at the time, to inform how long would he be required to sit out.

"If I don't mention it, two days. But now I'm saying it, one day," Ramli said before asking Najib to resume.

Rayer and Khalid had earlier disputed Najib's speech, which among others had touched on financial issues, the nation's debts and Kumpulan Wang Persaraan Diperbadankan (KWAP).
