KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Singapore have reached an agreement to resume travels between the two countries.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Malaysia and Singapore agreed unanimously that the Covid-19 situation in both countries was stable.
He said such a development served as a catalyst to the countries reaching the decision to reopen borders through safe methods.
"(Singapore Health) Minister Ong Ye Kung and I had a good discussion on the pandemic situation in our countries.
"We agreed the situation has stabilised and we can work immediately towards the full resumption of air and land travel for fully vaccinated persons," he said via Twitter today.
Earlier today, Malaysia's delegates including Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah welcomed Ong together with Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia Vanu Gopala Menon and the Singapore Health Ministry Permanent Secretary Chan Yeng Kit to the ministry in Putrajaya here.
Ong is on an official three-day visit to the country and is also scheduled to visit the National Institute of Health in Setia Alam tomorrow.
