Lazada Malaysia expands social causes under LazadaForGood

KUALA LUMPUR: Lazada Malaysia has expanded the social causes under its LazadaForGood platform, offering Malaysians more options to donate to causes of their choice.

From now until March 31, Malaysians can actively make donations in a safe, secure and seamless way on the digital platform of LazadaForGood, to support the effort that aims to provide for flood relief and post-disaster recovery, food aid, palliative care, medical and healthcare support, and animal welfare.

The donations will be channelled to non-governmental organisations such as MERCY Malaysia, MyFundAction, Malaysia Red Crescent, The Lost Food Project, Hospis Malaysia, SPCA, Islamic Relief Malaysia, and the United Nations International Children's Fund.

"Lazada's commitment to create positive change and sustaining impact remains steadfast. As we celebrate the milestones achieved by eCommerce over the past 10 years, Lazada is proud to be able to leverage our technology to connect Malaysians and beneficiaries directly.

"With LazadaForGood and the trust and support of the community and NGO partners, we are able to create awareness and actively support vulnerable communities in a meaningful way," said Lazada Malaysia chief operating officer Darren Rajaratnam.

Flood relief, assistance and food aid for affected communities

Several areas nationwide were adversely impacted by the flash floods in December last year, as well as the recent heavy downpour in February. The public can donate to MERCY Malaysia, Malaysia Red Crescent, MyFundAction and The Lost Food Project. The fund will benefit the flood relief effort, as well as post-disaster assistance that will help the community to recover and rebuild their lives.

Help families in need prepare for Ramadan

Many families across Malaysia are still recovering from the impact of the flash floods. With Ramadan approaching, contribute some sedekah or derma ikhlas for the families, especially those with young children as they prepare for the fasting month.

Healthcare support for vulnerable communities

NGOs in Malaysia are committed to ensuring that vulnerable communities are safe and protected throughout the pandemic, however, they are in dire need of monetary funding. The donations from the public would help to secure healthcare supplies, including personal protective equipment for the frontliners, medical kits and ambulance services, as well as equipment and essential items for palliative care.

Aid for pets

The flash floods have also caused disruption and separations for pets and their owners as rescue efforts have been constrained by limited boats. Animal lovers can support rescue efforts and shelter requirements for these furry friends by donating to SPCA Selangor.

With just a few clicks, you can help to make a difference in the lives of the community in need.
