KUALA LUMPUR: The Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) held a special programme today in conjunction with its 20th anniversary.
Launched by Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid, the Mega Walkabout held at the Ramadan bazaar at TLK Taman Tasik Permaisuri here promoted the various services provided by the commission to traders.
The programme aimed to raise awareness on the necessity of registering a company and its advantages to entrepreneurs and merchants.
According to Rosol, in addition to providing mobile counters for "EzBiz on the go" services, and online user ID activation, CCM also organised the programme so that traders could receive advisory services related to CCM products and services.
"I urge all traders to register their businesses with CCM as having a legitimate business entity is important in order to provide clients the trust they need to purchase goods and services.
"Legitimate businesses also allow entrepreneurs to apply for various assistance provided by government under agencies such as the National Entrepreneur Group Economic Fund (Tekun), Mara and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM)," he said at the programme.
Rosol later distributed aprons to traders and surveyed the prices of goods sold at the bazaar.
He also distributed CCM's corporate wakalah zakat contribution totalling RM10,000 to 10 asnaf entrepreneurs from Cheras who had registered their businesses with CCM.
Meanwhile, CCM has introduced one new initiative and continued five initiatives that were introduced last year.
The new initiative involves a reduction of the compound by 90 per cent of the original value of the compound for all offences under the Companies Act 1965, which has been repealed from March 1, 2022 to June 30 2022.
"I would like to call upon the corporate community to take this golden opportunity to pay the compound to enjoy a reduction of 90 per cent.
"The ministry and CCM hope this initiative can help towards the country's economic recovery in line with various initiatives implemented by the government," he said.
