KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims congregated in solidarity at their respective locations nationwide during this year's World #QuranHour (WQH) 2022 programme today which coincided with the 24th day of Ramadan.
Themed "Dunia Bersujud" (The World Prostrates) the programme broadcasted live from TV Al Hijrah's digital broadcast centre at the Islamic Centre Complex here was attended by the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
Apart from TV AlHijrah, the one-hour long programme which started at 12 noon, was also streamed live through the Facebook pages of the television station, QuranHour and Sinar Harian.
The mass-recital Quran campaign is aimed at establishing a sincere and compassionate ummah. Initiated in Malaysia in 2016 and extended to the world, participation over the past six years had reached 2.6 billion people.
Al-Sajdah, which is the 32nd surah in the Quran, was selected for this year's WQH.
During the programme here today, six Qari - Dr Anuar Hasin, Amir Rahman Abbas, Ahmad Tirmizi Ali, Ahmad, Tarmizi Abdul Rahman, Husaini Mahmur and Abdul Khair Jalil took turns recite Surah Al-Sajdah comprising 30 verses.
Also part of the programme was a panel made up of Fazrul Fahmee Ismail, Assoc Prof Dr Ahmad Sanusi and Tan Sri Mohd Daud Bakar, who took turns to reflect and share with the audience the nine convictions from Al-Sajdah that shape submissive souls to boost confidence and a sense of servitude to Allah in building a compassionate ummah.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in his message yesterday invited Muslims to allocate an hour to participate in the programme. He said Al-Sajdah was chosen as the surah since it invites people to appreciate the true meaning of prostration with full confidence to Allah, who can remove ego or arrogance to succeed in this world and the hereafter.
"The surah is also a guide for the framework of the mind and the unification of the ummah through economic and educational aspects thus giving us strength in facing the tests by prostrating to Allah," Ismail Sabri had said.
In Melaka, the WQH, which was attended by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, was held at the Al-Alami Mosque at the Melaka International Trade Centre.
In Negri Sembilan, the state-level WQH that was jointly organised by the Negri Sembilan Library together with Rumah Ngaji and Seremban-chapter Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organisation (Perkim) Home was held at 85 libraries throughout the state.
