KUALA LUMPUR: Three men sustained light injuries in a fire which broke out at the Sentul police headquarters' exhibits store this evening.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, in a statement, said the victims were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
It said 60 firefighters from the Sentul, Hang Tuah, Titiwangsa, Jalan Tun Razak and Wangsa Maju stations were deployed to the scene after a distress call was received at 6.22pm.
"According to the operation commander Ahmad Daniel Ahmad Kamal, the team arrived at the exhibit store at 6.32pm.
"At the time, 30 per cent of the building structure and 80 per cent of the open area where 50 cars were parked had caught fire.
"The fire was brought under control at 7.04pm. The cause of the fire is still under investigation."
Previous reports had stated that seized fireworks stored at the site had caught fire, which triggered an explosion.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai had confirmed the incident.
Photos and videos of the explosions have since been circulating on social media.
Nearby residents had reported a loud explosion and a tremor as a result.
