KTMB begins advanced ETS ticket sales

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has started advanced ticket sales for Electric Train Services (ETS) and intercity trains and reopened rail services for a major southern route.

KTMB, in a statement, said the ticket sales begin today for travel dated July 1 to Dec 31, according to the existing timetable.

A total 32 ETS services will operate throughout this period, consisting of 10 services for KL Sentral – Butterworth routes, 10 for KL Sentral – Butterworth, 10 for KL Sentral – Ipoh, eight for KL Sentral – Padang Besar, two for Gemas – Butterworth and two for Gemas – Padang Besar.

While the KTM intercity train will be operating with 22 services consisting of two eastern, six southern and 14 eastern shuttles.

KTMB also said it was resuming two services connecting Johor Bahru beginning July 1 after the route was suspended since November last year due to upgrading works for the Gemas-Johor Bahru electrified double-tracking project (EDTP).

KTMB group chief executive officer Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin said the advanced ticket sales are open for six months to allow the public to plan their journey ahead.

"It'll be of help to those who will be celebrating Hari Raya Aidiladha, school holidays or simply planning to go on vacation.

"The country's international border has reopened and we're also expecting an increase in tourists by the end of the year.

"Therefore, customers are advised to purchase their tickets in advance, to enjoy cheap fares in addition to being able to choose their seats in the train coach," he said in the statement.

KTMB customers can get RM15 worth of discounts by using the CUTIKERETAPI2 promo code, which is applicable from now until Nov 30 this year.

Customers can also enjoy a 25 per cent discount on group travel fares through the Keluarga Malaysia promo code KMKTMB22 for adults or children's tickets.

The minimum purchase for group travel tickets is four in one transaction.

Customers are advised to purchase their tickets through KTMB mobile application (KITS) or at their website.
