KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) has apologised over a door which was open on a KTM Komuter train travelling between Butterworth and Ipoh on Wednesday (Oct 30).
KTMB chief operating officer Mohd Zain Mat Taha said all passengers arrived safely to their destination in the 4.33pm incident, involving train number 2913.
He said the incident happened after the southbound train departed the Bukit Mertajam station.
He said that after receiving a report about what had happened, the train driver was able to manually close the door for the remainder of the service.
"All passengers arrived safely at their destination.
"Upon receiving the report about the incident, we took immediate action and completed the necessary repairs on the same day to uphold the safety and comfort of our passengers.
"The train is currently in the depot for thorough inspections and repairs," he said when contacted by the New Straits Times.
Mohd Zain said KTMB apologises for the inconvenience caused by the recent incident. He said the company was dedicated to continuously enhance its services to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
"We understand that this situation has affected passengers' journeys and greatly appreciate their patience and support," he said.
Many people expressed concern over the incident after a video of it went viral on social media.
The footage showed the train door opening as the vehicle moved. A male passenger was seen trying to manually close the door but to no avail.
Other passengers were looking on and seated quite close to the door.
