Family of drugged-up toddler gets aid from Raja Perempuan and police family association [NSTTV]

KOTA BARU: The family of the 3-year-old boy who was found with drugs in his system has been presented with a donation from Raja Perempuan Tengku Anis Tengku Hamid today.

The cash donation was given to the boy's mother at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, where he was warded.

Acting Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun presented the donation on behalf of Tengku Anis.

Zaki said Tengku Anis decided to help the family after hearing about the boy's situation recently.

"The plight of victim and his mother has touched the heart of the Raja Perempuan. She then decided to give the donation to ease the burden suffered by the family," he said.

Apart from that, Zaki said the Kelantan Police Family Association (Perkep), led by acting chairman Suzana Yashin, also presented a donation to the family.

On the boy's condition, Zaki said he was informed by doctors that the toddler would soon be transferred to Kuala Krai Hospital.

"I was informed today that the boy's condition is improving and that he is now breathing normally without the need for a ventilator," he said.

On Saturday, the boy's mother said she had him in a weak condition at their home in Kampung Sri Bintang near here.

The boy's face had turned blue when he was sleeping and the mother immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital.

Upon examination, doctors found traces of drugs, believed to be methamphetamine, in the boy's body.

The hospital then lodged a police report. Following the report, police detained a 30-year-old close relative.

The man, believed to be a drug addict, had been remanded to assist in investigations.

Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for abandoning, neglecting or exposing a child to danger, and causing physical or emotional injury to the child.
