PUTRAJAYA: Police will continue to work with the Health Ministry to ensure the compliance to Covid-19 preventive measures under the existing laws.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said operations would, however, focus more on advocacy efforts.
"We must always practise caution even as the country is transitioning towards endemicity. The Health Ministry will announce appropriate measures (related to Covid-19) and we will extend our support in carrying them out.
"I would like to express my gratitude to all 32 agencies that have participated in Op Patuh to ensure standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance among the people," he said after attending an appreciation ceremony of the Covid-19 SOP Enforcement and Compliance Coordination Committee at the ministry today.
Earlier in his speech, Hamzah said the government emphasised on three aspects, namely, fighting Covid-19, protecting the people's welfare and ensuring the survival of businesses in Malaysia.
He said the pandemic had united people from all walks of life and enforcement officers had played a crucial role in ensuring SOP compliance among the public.
He said a total of 5,551,094 premises were checked under Op Patuh, with 13,143 compounds issued for SOP violations and 6,383 premises ordered to close.
