KUALA LUMPUR: The Youth and Sports Ministry has accepted the apology from Lee Zii Jia's sports apparel maker, Victor, over the Malaysian flag blunder.
Zii Jia was embroiled in a controversy after he was seen wearing a jersey with the Jalur Gemilang upside down during the World Tour Finals in China last week.
"An apology has been made and I know that Zi Jia had no intention to embarrass the country and this is why the apology is accepted. However we want other athletes to take this seriously and not repeat it," said Yeoh after a press conference in Menara KBS in Putrajaya today.
"The apology was from Victor and I have not checked since then and for me, it's sufficient."
Yeoh had said earlier that the National Sports Council was drafting a code of ethics for athletes to prevent a similar incident from occurring again.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil had said that the blunder was a critical error and urged all parties to give space to the authorities to investigate the incident.
When asked about other ministries' actions, Yeoh said: "You can ask the other ministries, you quoted Fahmi, and you can ask Fahmi."
