Cops detain jobless man for allegedly insulting Islam, Prophet Muhammad

KOTA BARU: Police detained a 35-year-old man who allegedly insulted Islam on social media recently.

Acting Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the suspect was detained in Kampung Bagan Chekok near Pulai Chondong, Machang.

"Police yesterday (Sunday) received a report on an individual who allegedly insulted Islam and Prophet Muhammad on Facebook.

"The video clip, which had gone viral, lasted for four minutes and 14 seconds.

"Following the report, a police team went to the village and detained the suspect at 11.30am," he said.

Zaki said the man had admitted to uploading the video at the same place where he was arrested.

He added that the man, who is jobless, tested positive for drugs.

"He is expected to be remanded tomorrow," Zaki said.

It is learnt that this was the first such case to have been reported in Kelantan.
