KOTA BARU: RM11 million will be allocated by the Kelantan government to help those in the state whose livelihoods had been affected by Covid-19.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob announced this during the last day of Kelantan State Assembly sitting at the Darulnaim Complex.
Ahmad said the allocation was for those who were directly involved in sustaining food security for the state, such as fishermen, small-medium entrepreneurs and petty traders.
"For those directly involved in food security, coastal fishermen and others, RM1.5 million will be allocated to them.
"Another RM4.5 million will be given to petty traders and small-and-medium entrepreneurs," he said.
Ahmad said the state government also had formulated a long-term plan to solve water issues in the state.
"As for the temporary solution, we have decided to allocate RM5 million for the setting up of tube wells as certain areas in the state having low water pressure.
"The construction of the tube wells will be undertaken by the Kelantan Water State Department," he added.
Ahmad who is also state Land, Natural Resources, Economy Planning and Finance Committee chairman said the RM11 million allocation was under the state's Budget for Year 2022.
