KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong are scheduled to make a courtesy call on King Charles III of Britain at Buckingham Palace, in London on Oct 12.
Istana Negara, in a statement, said the courtesy call will be part of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah's special visit to United Kingdom from Oct 10 to 16.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the visit also reflected the close friendship between Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the British monarch.
"The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has been friends with King Charles III for over four decades. They have played polo together at various international championships during their teenage years.
"The courtesy visit also shows the close bilateral ties between Malaysia and the United Kingdom since the independence of Malaysia 65 years ago," he said in a statement.
Ahmad Fadil said the royal couple are also scheduled to officiate the iconic Battersea Power Station, the largest Malaysian investment in the United Kingdom spanning 16.99 ha and at the cost of RM51.53 billion.
