BACHOK: Villagers from Kampung Kubang Golok and Kemasin sub-districts recorded the highest number of participants who took part in the Malaysian Family hardcore poverty eradication programme (BMTKM).
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the two sub-districts were among eight localities in Kelantan which are involved in the programme.
"A total of 51 heads of households (KIR) from the two sub-districts were selected for the BMTKM and today, l bring good news to them.
"The government has approved some RM550,000 allocation to help them in business.
"This 51 KIR who operates various types of business such as selling instant noodles and operating a welding shop, will receive equipment soon to help them earn more income," he said.
Mustapa, who is Jeli MP, was speaking to reporters after meeting participants at Kubang Golok mosque here today.
He said participants from the two sub-districts include Siamese and they were expected to start their business after Oct 15.
Mustapa also thanked the federal government for RM1 billion in allocation to speed up next year's BMTKM.
"The announcement on the RM1 billion allocation during the recent 2023 Budget proved that the government's commitment to eradicate hardcore poverty nationwide and to exit the absolute poverty group by the end of 2025," he said.
As of Sept 30, he said a total of 129,395 KIR were involved in the programme. From the total, 13,045 of the KIR were from Kelantan.
He also said Phase Two of the programme involving 110 localities would be launched next week.
