New Bachok hospital set to serve 160,000 residents

BACHOK: The new Bachok hospital, which was completed on July 11, is able to provide various treatment services to patients.

Public Works director-general Datuk Roslan Ismail said the new hospital, which cost RM71 million, was re-tendered in October 2021. It has 76 patient beds.

"The new hospital will feature, among other things, three specialist clinics and two operating theatres. During its construction, the project was carried out safely and achieved zero lost time injuries," he said at the handing over of the project to the health ministry here today.

The ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. Also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nassuruddin Daud and state health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.

Roslan said the Public Works Department is committed to providing quality services for projects assigned by the government.

Meanwhile, Dr Zaini said the new hospital would benefit 160,000 residents and is expected to fully operate in November this year.

"The project, situated on 20.3 hectares of land, offers 10 health fields. We hope it will help address the issues arising from the high number of patients recorded at Bachok hospital each year," he added.

He said that Bachok is the fourth largest district in Kelantan, with the highest number of patients.
