ALOR STAR: There was a slight drop in the number of flood evacuees in Kubang Pasu after 16 victims from five families were allowed to return home today.
Kubang Pasu Civil Defence Force officer Mohd Adenin Suhaimi said 88 people from 27 families were still sheltering at the SK Binjai flood relief centre (PPS).
"Sixteen people from five families were allowed to return home today."
The SK Binjai PPS was activated on Wednesday to shelter 104 victims after Kampung Telok, Kampung Bendang Dalam and Kampung Tanjung in Kubang Pasu were flooded.
Adenin said Kampung Padang Luar and Sungai Lubok Batu were hit by flash floods today after Sungai Lubok Batu breached its banks following six hours of rain yesterday.
"At least five houses in Kampung Padang Luar were affected, but no PPS has been activated yet.
"We are monitoring Sungai Lubok Batu as it has reached the danger level."
In Kota Setar, two flood-prone villages in the Gunong sub-district were affected by flash floods today.
Kota Setar Civil Defence Force officer Norlizawati Ismail said 15 homes in Kampung Alor Pear and three homes in Kampung Alor Gunong were affected by flash floods.
"We have yet to activate a PPS to relocate victims, but we are monitoring the situation."
