KUALA LUMPUR: A poster stating Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's appointment as the deputy prime minister is fake.
The Prime Minister's Department today stated that the poster being circulated on social media regarding Zahid's appointment was false.
"We want to inform that the poster that has gone viral on Facebook is false. We (also) urge the public to stop spreading and sharing such misinformation," it said in a statement today.
It also urged the public to refer to the department's official website for any new information.
Earlier, a poster of Zahid's appointment as the deputy prime minister and the home minister had been widely circulated on Facebook.
The circulating poster had raised questions among the public, as the cabinet members were yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, in his maiden press conference after clocking in as the 10th prime minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim pledged to form a leaner cabinet and also proposed a reduction in minister's salaries.
