PUTRAJAYA: Tanjong member of parliament Lim Hui Ying began her duty as the deputy education minister today.
She clocked in at 8.25am and was greeted soon after by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, who arrived at 8.30am.
Lim said she is eager to assist the minister in raising the standard of education.
"I am proud and grateful to the prime minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) for allowing me to fulfill my duty as deputy minister.
"I will give my support towards the effort by the minister (Fadhlina) to raise our education to the next level," she said.
Also present were director-general Datuk Pkharuddin Ghazali and secretary-general Datuk Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof.
Lim however declined to comment on any current issues such as the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), stating that it is her first day in office.
Lim is the sister of DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng.
