KUALA LUMPUR: Police will investigate the daredevil couple who are believed to have sneaked pass security and climbed the Merdeka 118, the world's second tallest building.
Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Yahaya Othman confirmed to the New Straits Times that the couple will be called in to have their statements recorded.
"They will be investigated under the Penal Code for trespassing.
"We have not received a report from the building owner about the incident yet," he said today.
Yesterday, pictures of daredevil couple Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau at the top of Merdeka 118 were uploaded by the former to SkyscraperCity.com. The pictures made it to the Malaysian community subreddit on reddit.com.
It is believed that the couple used a drone to capture the images after climbing the tower with the ladders inside.
"I was at the top of the spire. It was insane," Beerkus said on the website yesterday.
The couple is known for their death-defying stunts on top of towers around the world.
Earlier today, Nikolau confirmed on Twitter that she climbed the yet-to-be opened skyscraper.
"I've done something crazy and escaped imprisonment — it was a living nightmare with a happy ending.
"I have climbed the second highest building in the world — MERDEKA TOWER! No one has done it before — ever."
