KUALA LUMPUR: An internal investigation by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd is underway after an incident involving a Russian couple that allegedly scaled the Merdeka 118 tower recently.
In a statement today, PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd spokesman highlighted that the Merdeka 118 development is still "a live construction site" and safety remains to be a priority.
"As a private property, any trespassers will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
"We are providing our full support and cooperation to the authorities on this matter," the spokesman said.
Earlier today, Beerkus and Nikolau, known for their death-defying stunts on top of towers around the world, had posted videos of them on top of Merdeka 118 on Instagram confirming their stunt after their photos went viral yesterday.
Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Yahaya Othman confirmed to the New Straits Times that the couple will be called in to have their statements recorded and the duo will be investigated under the Penal Code for trespassing.
