HK stars in Penang to film 'Locksmith' movie

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow took time off his schedule to attend opening ceremony for the filming of the movie "Locksmith" at an eatery in Jalan Macalister here today.

He said this was the first movie to be filmed in Penang after the reopening of the international borders.

"From what I know, the suspenseful movie is a joint collaboration between Malaysia and Hong Kong and is directed by Penangite Pei Ji. He has done many TV commercials but this is his first time directing a movie.

"Filming the movie in Penang will further promote Penang on the international stage. It started on Dec 27, last year, and is expected to be wrapped up within a month. I wish them every success," Chow said on Facebook.

The film features Hong Kong stars Philip Keung, Raymond Wong and Samantha Ko Hui-ling and Malaysian actress Yumi Wong.

Keung, 56, celebrated Christmas with his wife, Anna Kam, in Penang recently.

In a Facebook post on Dec 27, Keung marked himself as being in Penang.

Fans commented on the post to welcome him to the Pearl of the Orient, and wished him well for the movie shoot.

Musliha Zakaria said: "Welcome to Penang. Yesterday, saw you during the shoot. All the best for the movie."

Sally Choong said: "The city welcomes you."

Dafill Kuok commented: "I can look forward to the next new work of Black Brother"

In Keung's subsequent posts, he was photographed in various places in the state.

He also shared on social media that he was excited to be back in Penang after so long.
