KUALA LUMPUR: 7-Eleven has apologised for the actions of one of its staff who used a mop to clean a microwave oven at one of its outlets.
The apology was issued in a statement that was posted on the comment section of NST Online Facebook page's article on the matter.
"This was a clear violation of our sanitation protocols and is not reflective of the high standards we strive to maintain in all of our stores.
"We understand the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment for our customers, and we assure you that immediate action has been taken on the staff to ensure that this does not happen again.
"We regret any inconvenience or concern this may have caused, and we appreciate your continued patronage," the company said in the statement.
The picture that went viral showed a staff member of the popular 24-hour convenience store using a floor mop to clean the inside of a microwave that has disgusted netizens.
"Please brief your staff on the right way to clean. Even the floor mop is used to clean the microwave. This is so unhygienic," @AshrafChak tweeted without naming the location of the outlet in question.
It was later learnt that the outlet in question is located in Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur.
His tweet has received over one million views and close to 9,000 people have retweeted it at the time of writing.
