Senator apologises for parking violation

KUALA LUMPUR: Senator Mohd Hasbie Muda issued an apology and expressed willingness to accept a fine after he was photographed parking his vehicle in a pedestrian walkway.

Hasbie, who is the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Youth chief, assured that such an incident would not recur in the future.

Earlier, a post on X showed Hasbie had parked his vehicle on a pavement, in an undesignated spot.

"As the owner of the vehicle, I deeply regret what happened and take full responsibility. I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused and am willing to accept any fine," he said via a post on X after the photograph became viral on social media.

@JimmyNaj made the post on his X account displaying the car with a parliamentary badge parked on a pavement near the Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

Responses from other users on X expressed disappointment, questioning why a Senator would park illegally and suggesting that MPs should use their parking allowances to pay for proper parking spots.

"Since MPs are paid parking allowances ... Why don't they use it to pay for parking? Who is this MP?," one of them asked.

Another user @sham6000 said: " With a high salary and expensive car, why can't he afford to pay for parking?"
