LUMUT: A policeman with the rank of Sergeant Major sustained critical injuries after he fell from the fourth floor of a building here on the morning of his wedding day yesterday.
Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said police were alerted to the incident by a passerby at 5.45am.
He said the victim is currently attached to the Pahang contingent and was on holiday.
"The victim was supposed to attend his wedding reception at his family's house in Ayer Tawar yesterday (Jan 23). The victim is critical and is being treated at the Seri Manjung Hospital," Mohd Yusri said in a statement today.
He said police are still investigating the motive behind the incident. He also advised the people with information about the accident to contact the Manjung district police investigation officer, Inspector N. Ravinthiran at 019-6508489 to facilitate investigation into the case.
