Six-year-old boy falls from 6th floor in Seri Iskandar

SERI ISKANDAR: A six-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after falling from the sixth floor of a building at the Seri Iskandar Apartments here.

Perak Tengah district police chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the police were alerted to the incident at 10.50pm on Wednesday.

He said the victim was taken to Changkat Melintang Hospital at 11.20pm.

"Investigations revealed that during the incident, the victim was at home with his older sister, aged 12, and younger sister, aged two, while their mother was at work.

"The victim is believed to have fallen while climbing the balcony to play with his friends.

"He is in stable condition and currently receives further treatment in the PICU ward at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Ipoh," he said in a statement today.

Hafezul added that anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the case investigating officer, Inspector Muhammad Aminuddin Haiqal Mohamed Masnani, at 019-675 1267.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 for ill-treatment, neglect, abandonment, or exposure of a child, which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, a jail sentence of up to 20 years, or both.
