KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd group chairman Datuk Seri (Dr) Syed Hussian Aljunid has been appointed as an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
The appointment letter was presented to Syed Hussian by Tenaga Nasional Bhd president and chief executive and deputy chairman of the UNITEN Board of Directors Datuk Indera Baharin Din, was witnessed by UNITEN vice chancellor Professor Ir Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman.
The appointment is in line with UNITEN's commitment to enhance learning by connecting students with industry experts.
Noor Azuan said UNITEN is bringing more experts from industries to share their knowledge and expertise with the students in classrooms.
"As a professional who has worked in many different fields, Datuk Seri Syed Hussian has a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience that can be shared with students to allow them to understand and apply the theory they learn in the classroom to their field.
"We trust that he will provide valuable insight, industry-specific tips and advice that will help prepare students for their future and stay up to date with the latest trends which is essential in a rapidly changing world. This is one of the ways we are industrialising the university," said Noor Azuan in a statement.
Syed Hussian has over 30 years of professional experience in the insurance, technology and media industry and has played an active role in helping Malaysian students get access to quality education.
His contributions to the Malaysian education system has been widely acknowledged by the country's leading varsities including Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka where he received an honorary doctorate in Engineering Technology.
His other roles in education include Advisor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan's Entrepreneurship Programme, Chairman of the WD-Ministry of Higher Education Campus Connect Programme and Programme Member of the CEO @ Faculty Programme 1.0: Learn from the Pros of Multimedia University.
Syed Hussian said he was honoured and humbled at being accorded the privilege and platform to impart knowledge to the future generation.
"As industry leaders, we have an upper hand in years of experience especially from the workforce and we should take it as our duty to make a difference in young lives through teaching to prepare them better for the challenges of the future.
