Online directory of outlets participating in Menu Rahmah initiative to be established soon

KUANTAN: An online directory listing all food outlets participating in the Menu Rahmah initiative will be introduced soon.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living deputy minister Fuziah Salleh said the ministry was in the midst of identifying a suitable platform to list down all the premises involved in offering the B40-friendly Menu Rahmah meals.

"However, in Pahang the ministry's office here will have its own directory on participating premises when the initiative is launched next week.

"Besides the mamak and Indian restaurants and tom yam shops, I hope food courts and kopitiams will also participate in the initiative," she told reporters after visiting a chicken rice shop in Indera Mahkota here which recently joined the ministry's franchise-business concept.

Menu Rahmah, launched on Jan 31, is an initiative by the ministry with the cooperation of participating outlets to serve lunch or dinner sets at the recommended price of RM5.

On a separate matter, Fuziah said the floods which hit five states including Pahang this week did not affect the supply of essential goods despite logistics disruption at certain areas.

"The ministry has engaged the stakeholders involved in logistics to look into ways to minimise the lorry transportation cost especially during the floods.

"If we manage to reduce the logistics cost, then the prices of goods can be lowered and this will cushion consumers' burden," she said.
