Two killed in collision in Balik Pulau

BALIK PULAU: A policeman and a nurse died when their motorcycles collided into each other at Jalan Tun Sardon here early this morning.

In the 6.40am incident, Corporal Muhammad Zohair Dzulkefle, 44, was riding his motorcycle towards Balik Pulau from Relau while Norsyazwani Roslan, 30, was riding in the opposite direction.

A police spokesman said Muhammad Zohair, who sustained serious head and bodily injuries, died at the scene.

"Meanwhile, Norsyazwani, who is based at the Bertam Hospital, died several hours after being treated the Balik Pulau Hospital," the spokesman said.

When contacted, southwest district police chief Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal confirmed the incident.

He said the case was being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The PDRM Pulau Pinang Facebook page, in a posting, extended condolences to Muhammad Zohair's family.

Many people, who commented on the posting, remembered the deceased as a very kind man, who was ever ready to impart knowledge to others.
