KOTA BARU: Two men were killed when their motorcycles collided head-on at RBI Jaya Canopy, Jalan Salor - Pasir Mas here yesterday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said both motorcyclists, aged between 28 and 79, succumbed to severe head injuries and died on the spot in the 5.40pm accident.
Mohd Rosdi said the 28-year-old victim was riding a Yamaha Y15ZR while the senior citizen was using a Honda Wave when the accident took place.
He added that preliminary investigation showed the Yamaha Y15ZR was heading to Kampung Pendek from Wakaf Che Yeh when the motorcycle skidded and entered the opposite lane before colliding head-on with the Honda Wave.
"The impact of the collision caused both victims to be thrown off their motorcycles and onto the road," he said in a statement.
The case, he said, is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
