AEON BiG joins the Rahmah programme offering quality food and groceries

KUALA LUMPUR: AEON BiG (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has agreed to join the Rahmah Sales initiative to help the community cope with the rising cost of living and contribute to the economy's recovery.

"We have dedicated 100 essential items, such as processed food, rice, cooking oil, toiletries and other basic necessities, which are priced lower under our Rahmah Sales programme," said AEON BiG managing director Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed after launching the programme at its Wangsa Maju outlet today.

The Rahmah initiative, which was launched by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, was expected to include Rahmah Sales, Rahmah Baskets, Rahmah Menu and Rahmah Package, which comprise affordable food and groceries for low-income consumers.

Sheikh Farouk said AEON BiG had also come up with a special package called Rahmah Package priced at RM50.

"This package consists of daily essential items as well as dry food, among others. Apart from that, we have also introduced the Rahmah Menu that comes with a bottle of mineral water at just RM4.95 to kick start the programme," he added.

Sheikh Farouk said AEON BiG would be serving customers a variety of dishes daily. They include various dishes of chicken, fish and seafood.

He said the programme was in line with its brand, which was to offer quality products at an affordable price.

"We understand the struggle of the B40 and hardcore poor and have an obligation towards helping these customers. With that in mind, AEON BiG has also contributed Bakul Rahmah to 180 families from the B40 group and the extreme poor in six states, namely Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang, Perak and Pahang. This is our small contribution to the government's Rahmah initiative that aims to address the rising cost of living, especially for the low-income group, " he added.
