KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin believes that there was no wrongdoing on his part in regard to the Jana Wibawa scheme.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia President said he has upheld his truth in giving statements to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) recently on its probe into the programme.
The scheme was introduced to expedite project execution to spur the nation's economic recovery post Covid-19 pandemic. It was also aimed at improving Bumiputera contractors' capacity in the construction sector to be more resilient and competitive.
Speaking to reporters at the Jalan Duta courthouse earlier, today, Muhyiddin said he had provided full cooperation on the case and left it to the anti-graft agency to complete its probe.
The Pagoh Member of Parliament also believes that no other Bersatu members would be hauled by the MACC to provide a statement into the case.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said there is yet to be any law enacted concerning political donations.
"As far as we're concerned there's no law yet that has been enacted in parliament, as far as the people's donation (to a party) is concerned," he said.
On PN's chances in the forthcoming state elections, Muhyiddin said he leaves it to the rakyat to decide on the matter.
However, he did not discount the possibility that Bersatu's bank account being frozen, which will likely affect the party's management.
"I have appealed (again) to the MACC chief, to un-freeze it (bank accounts).. just to be fair.
"Because we, as any other party, require whatever funds that we have in preparation (for polls), or for party's management and of course dealing with the coming elections," he said.
When asked about who had triggered the MACC to take action against Bersatu members, Muhyiddin said: "Remember there was one time the Umno president accused us as the 'new' court cluster. That seemed like a preemptive (action) as to what will transpire (for Bersatu members).
"So seeing from what had transpired, either planned or unplanned, the intent is not good".
