Ex-NST journalist Jaspal Singh dies

IPOH: Former New Straits Times journalist Jaspal Singh died today. He was 52.

His brother, Jageer Singh, said Jaspal died at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here about 6pm.

"He was rushed to the hospital on Monday after complaining of chest pain and breathing difficulties. He was admitted to the cardiac care unit."

Jageer said Jaspal's body would be taken to his home in Taman Suria here before cremation.

Jaspal joined NST as a reporter in 2002 and was a correspondent in Perak until 2014.

He then became the Malay Mail Perak bureau chief from 2015 to 2016.

Jaspal worked with Business Times in Kuala Lumpur as a sub-editor in 1997.

He was married to Daljeed Kaur, 46, and the couple have nine-year-old twins, Gurjeevan Singh and Gursamrath Kaur.
