KUALA LUMPUR: A driver of a Mercedes Benz 450 had a narrow escape when the car burst into flames at KM18 of the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) near the Wangsa Maju toll plaza today.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Nor Shaiful Ibrahim said a team of seven firefighters was deployed to the scene after the department was alerted at 1.38 pm.
"Upon arrival, the team found the fire occurred in the engine compartment.
"The fire was completely put off at 2.15 pm," he said in a statement today.
He added that the car was completely destroyed, but there were no victims involved.
He also said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
