KLANG: Agrobank has approved 77 moratorium applications, worth RM22 million, for its customers who were affected by the floods in Terengganu and Pahang.
Its president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said the bank was scrutinising another 90 applications worth RM10 million.
The applications were received since January.
For costomers affect by the floods in Johor, he said Agrobank has yet to receive their applications, as certain areas were still affected by floods.
"We are expecting the applications to come in after those affected have completed cleaning their houses.
"(But) we have received enquiries on the moratorium from those affected.
"Just like those in Terengganu and Kedah, we started to receive applications about a month after the floods receded," he said after the Agrobank Back to School Aid handover ceremony to 200 students in the state.
Present was Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
He said Agrobank offers a moratorium of up to six months for the monthly instalment payments of financing to those affected by floods.
On the back-to-school aid, Tengku Badli Shah said it was part of the bank's corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the bank was committed to contributing back to the community.
A total of 200 students, aged seven to 12, from 10 schools under the Kota Raja constituency were selected to receive back-to-school aid.
The aid, he said, was aimed at helping students from the B40 group, single mothers and orphans with school supplies.
The students received an allowance of RM150 each, along with school supplies such as school bags and water bottles.
