KUALA LUMPUR: "Don't waste your money sending me weed, I don't smoke them,"
So said Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli when asked about a toothpaste parcel, supposedly containing cannabis, that was addressed to two politicians yesterday.
"I don't know (who it was from). It was sent to the office, I didn't open it myself and it was sent straight to the police." he said at a Press conference in Parliament, today.
Rafizi also confirmed that the parcel was addressed to him and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"It was addressed to the prime minister and myself (but) none of us basically take weed so it's a waste," he added.
It was reported yesterday that Sepang police confiscated a parcel, believed to contain a tube of toothpaste infused with cannabis leaf extract, addressed to two politicians.
Police said a ministry officer had lodged a police report regarding the parcel after receiving a call from a delivery service.
A police team then went to the courier hub in Sepang and seized the parcel.
Checks revealed that the item was purchased by the sender with an address in Indonesia through an online platform.
