RMAF trainee bullied by seniors [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: A Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) trainee claimed to have been bullied by a few of his seniors at its Kuantan base recently.

This was revealed in a viral Twitter thread by @ummiiiiinmo who claimed her brother was a victim of ragging while in training at the base.

Among the attacks the trainee reportedly received were whipping using a pipe rubber, being bitten on his ears, being stripped naked, and beaten allegedly by the seniors.

"Every day I Facetime my brother, because he is living in fear.

"During breaking fast, he will eat maggi alone in his room fearing to get to the mess hall," she said while adding that the matter had been reported to the base's officer but to no avail.

In the thread, she also claimed that one of the seniors had an "insider" (cable) who could protect him from any actions.

One of the seniors posted a picture of the group on WhatsApp with the #kamitaksalah (we did not do anything wrong) and this was noticed by the victim who then told his sister about the matter.

The sister claimed that the seniors had completed their courses and returned to their base in Subang, Labuan, and Butterworth.

Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman quoted the Tweet and called for action to be taken if the claims were found to be true.

"An educational institution should never be a place where students' lives become at risk.

"If these allegations are true, I urge the authorities to continue taking action. This case of bullying and 'ragging' culture is not a small matter.

"We do not want cases like the one that happened to Zulfarhan (Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain) to happen again. Please take action before it's too late," he said.
