Direct haj flight from Terengganu to Saudi among pledges in state BN manifesto

KUALA NERUS: Direct flights from Terengganu to Saudi Arabia for haj pilgrims and construction of four-lane routes between Kemaman and Besut are among the pledges to be included in the state Barisan Nasional (BN) election manifesto for the upcoming state elections.

State BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Said said the proposed direct flight from Sultan Mahmud Airport (LTSM) to Jeddah and Madinah to perform haj will benefit potential pilgrims residing on the East Coast.

"There was previously a plan to transform Terengganu, particularly LTSM, into a hub for haj (when BN was in power in the state).

"We (BN), however, could not proceed with the plan since we lost the state in the 14th General Election (in 2018)," he told reporters after attending the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house, which was hosted by the Kuala Nerus Umno Umno Kuala Nerus at Seberang Takir, here, today.

Present were Kuala Nerus Umno division chief Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman, Marang Umno division chief Datuk Nik Dir Wan Ku and Kuala Terengganu Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Sabri Alwi.

Some 35,000 people from several districts in the state attended the event.

Ahmad, who is also Kijal assemblyman, said other pledges to be included in the Terengganu BN election manifesto included to provide free e-books to Year Two pupils onwards in the state.

He added that Terengganu BN would announce more pledges in its manifesto for the upcoming state elections in due time.

"We are announcing three pledges for today and others will be unveiled in stages. BN manifesto will be a holistic one to benefit the youths, adults and the veterans," he added.
