983 MRSM students scored straight As in 2022 SPM: Mara chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 983 students of the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) scored straight As (A+, A and A-) in the 2022 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, compared with 904 in the previous year.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi said of the total, 30 students scored A+ in all subjects.

"A total of 7,899 candidates from 55 MRSMs nationwide had sat for the examination, with all candidates recorded 100 per cent pass in all subjects.

"At the same time, the examination results for MRSM had also recorded an Average Grade College (GPM) index of 2.485," he said in a press conference at the World Trade Centre, today.

He said there was also an increase in the Average Subject Grade (GPS) for several subjects including History, Islamic education as well as English language subjects.

Meanwhile, he added that 10 MRSMs showed excellent performance with GPM less than 2.0, including Kepala Batas; Langkawi; Tun Abdul Razak; Tun Ghafar Baba; Johor Baru; Alor Gajah; Pasir Tumboh, Sungai Besar; Taiping and Kota Putra.

"At the same time, 24 MRSMs had managed to obtain the KPI Gateway to Holistic Education 2021-2025 for the Secondary Education Division with a GPM index less than 2.50."

A total of 10,109 SPM candidates have obtained straight As (A+, A and A-) in all subjects for the year 2022.

Education director-general Datuk Pkharuddin when announcing the results earlier today said the results for this year recorded a better National Average Grade (GPN) score of 4.74, compared with 4.86 last year.
