MELAKA: The report on the Batang Kali landslide in which 31 people died last December is almost ready, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He said the Public Works Department had submitted its findings of its investigation on the tragedy at the Father's Organic Farm campsite to the relevant ministries and Selangor government.
"Jalan Batang Kali (the location of the incident) is a state road, therefore all the reports prepared have to be submitted to the Selangor government.
"Right now, we are waiting for comments from the Selangor government and other ministries involved," he said after officiating the PWD Malaysia Senior Officer Conference (SOC) 2023 at Hatten Hotel today.
He hoped that other relevant agencies and departments, on their part, would also speed up their submission.
Present were Nanta's deputy, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, Works Ministry secretary general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, PWD director-general Datuk Ahmad Redza Ghulam Rasool and Melaka PWD director Datuk Ismail Abd Rahman.
The next of kin of the landslide victims have been pressing for the release of the full report of the investigation into the tragedy, which involved 92 victims, mostly campers at the undesignated camp site.
The landslide at about 2.30am on Dev 16 involved a 30m high slope and spread over 0.4ha.
In January, Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the preliminary report on the disaster had been presented to the cabinet.
