#Showbiz: Good Vibes Festival to go on despite shocking end to first day

SEPANG: The Good Vibes Festival (GVF) is set to go on despite an abrupt stop to a performance by 'The 1975' last night.

British band 'The 1975' left a bad taste in festival concertgoers mouths when their performance stopped midway.

The band, which closed the first night of the festival, was scheduled to perform for an hour.

However, their show was called to a halt just after the band performed their fifth song, after frontman Matt Healy uttered profanities that insulted the government.

The festival organiser confirmed so in a brief statement released last night.

"To those who attended on Friday, July 21, 2023, we understand your disappointment.

"If you have a Friday single-day festival wristband, you will now be able to attend the festival on either Saturday or Sunday.

"Good Vibes Festival has always been dedicated to providing enjoyable music experiences, and we sincerely appreciate your continued support.

"We regret that 'The 1975' performance had to be cut short due to non-compliance with local performance guidelines," said the statement.

The band's frontman Matt Healy, was seen performing while holding a bottle of wine, lit cigarette and spitting on stage during their set last night.

He also gave a brief speech that included profanities directed to the government.

He kissed his male guitarist after making the speech, and continued performing the last two songs of the night.

"Okay, that's it from us, guys. We're banned from Kuala Lumpur," he said before leaving the stage, leaving the crowd dumbfounded.

The three-day music festival, which kicked off yesterday (June 21) till July 23 was set to showcase more than 40 acts which combined international and local artists.
