Section 6 of West Coast Expressway to be completed by year end

KUALA SELANGOR: The 21.8km Section 6 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) is expected to be completed by year end, says Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said the highway, built using the R6 standard exclusive for high speeds with two lanes and two ways, would be able to change the transportation landscape in the area by saving travel time between cities around Klang, Shah Alam, Puncak Alam and Kuala Selangor.

He added the route from Bukit Raja multi-level intersection (north) to Assam Jawa multi-level intersection (direct extension to the end of KL-Kuala Selangor Expressway) could save travellers from Klang to Kuala Selangor/Ijok 30 minutes.

"Hopefully, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and WCE concession company will be able to ensure the route's completion according to schedule and take necessary steps to deal with any issues that may arise.

"This is crucial to ensure that the facility can be enjoyed by highway users as an alternative route, especially during the holiday season," he said after visiting the Assam Jawa toll construction site for the West Coast Expressway Section 6, here today.

Nanta said that the Section 6 route would also be able to boost the tourism industry and attract more tourists to destinations such as Kuala Selangor, Jeram, Batu Arang Heritage City, Sky City, and Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park.

He added that small and medium enterprises and local traders would enjoy the expressway as it would provide a smooth transport link which eases business activities.

"This, in turn, will increase sales and business profits that are parallel to the increasing visitors to the area, while also adding more job opportunities."
